Let's go fly a kite

This weekend we went to Lake Harriet's annual kite festival. It was a relatively warm day until we got out on the lake. Quite windy, but luckily it was good for the kites.

Harriet and Steve tried there hands at ice fishing in the DNR tent. No luck, but they luckily had they same results as avid ice fisherman.

The event seemed well attended and we had a fun time watching kites, roasting marshmallows and drinking hot cocoa.

Recent knittings

The few weeks before Christmas were busy spent completing holiday presents. Not all of them shown here, the majority of them were cowls. The cowl above and below is a reversible mobius cowl in the brioche stitch like I used here. No pattern here, I just kind of made it up. I love the way the yarn changes color; this stitch does a good job of highlighting it.

Another one, same as above. This cowl is so time consuming that I swear to you right now that I will never made another one again, despite how nicely they turned out. This one was for Harriet's daycare provider.

This toddler scarf wasn't a christmas present, but I forgot to add it to the last knitting post. Pattern is here. Very easy and quick. The little girl we gave it to was wearing it in their family holiday card picture. Cute. I already made another one in red.

I completed the quilt and gave it to my mom for Christmas. No small task here. I think it turned out great (although you can't see the binding in this picture).

JANUARY LINK OF THE MONTH

If you've ever watched Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern you know there are very few things out there that people won't eat. Curious to see his website? You should be. In addition to being interesting Andrew lives in the Twin Cities and happens to be Jewish.
