the scream

Last weekend our friend and neighbor Jonathan Chapman was nice enough to come over and take some pictures of Harriet. We are very happy with the shots that he took! Here are a few.

Nesting madness

Recently we had some ceiling fans put in on the porch. In my quest to make life just a little bit harder than it should be, 2 weeks ago I decided to stencil the porch floor. I had a heightened sense of urgency due to the fact that the baby was due any day. Being 9 months pregnant also posed it's own logistical problems getting up and down working on the floor. After over 20 hours of working I didn't finish it, but I made a huge dent-- probably 2/3 done. I think it will stay that way for a while. I'm quite happy with the results though.

hospital to home

First night home from the hospital on Wednesday, not so great. Things are getting better though. We are happy to be home and we are figuring things out.

Stephen with Harriet.

Stephen's mom sent us this photo yesterday of his dad holding him at two days old. Pretty sure we know where Harriet's luscious black hair comes from.

New chapter: Harriet Minnette was born 7/12/2010 at 7:40AM. 7lbs 15 ounces. 21 inches.

Christina meets her little girl for the first time!

Our friend Erin had impeccable timing. She arrived for her nursing shift right before Harriet presented herself. The entire hospital staff was awesome for the 12+ hour labor.

Foot stamp time. It's official.

Baby's first bath; not a huge fan.

Once mother and daughter felt up to it we had some visitors. From left to right: Grandma Kay, Erin, Kristen, Ginny, Grandpa Mike, Jonny, and Becky.

Thank you for all the well wishes! Harriet is only 14 hours old, but she knows how much everyone loves her.

Summer in the garden

One of two honeycrisp apples on the new tree.

Veggies galore. We harvested our broccoli and then put in some basil for lots and lots of pesto.

The tomatoes have been loving the hot weather lately. Me-- not so much.

Also we planted some raspberries along this same side of the house, but they are too pathetic and small looking to justify a picture.

The hops are climbing. I wish they would climb faster though.

Boulevard garden is growing high. Like 7ft. high.

90th birthday celebration

Last weekend we went to Northfield to help my grandma celebrate her 90th birthday with a bunch of friends and family. She recently fell and broke her hip so the party was held at the nursing home where she is recovering. Her hip is healing well so that is great news and she was in good spirits for the party.

with Grandma and my cousin Karina (who happens to be wearing one of my grandma's old dresses from the sixties (?). kind of silly)

JULY LINK OF THE MONTH

You'd think with the baby due any day we'd wouldn't be thinking of home renovations and repairs. But as the montra and name of the link of the month suggests it's fun to get One Project Closer to the perfect home, or community, or life. The four contributers to the blog and website from around Baltimore create a very This Old House feel.
