MOSTLY FINISHED AND STOCKED!

It's been many months in the making, but we are basically finished with the wine cellar! The racks were delivered a few weeks ago and last night we completed constructing them and screwed them in to the wall. We were so excited that we stayed into the wee hours to help put all the wine in. We are really excited about it and my dad is euphoric. It has been a lot of hard work doing the planning, the demo, flooring, wiring (with help from raymond), painting, lighting, constructing, leveling, etc. Clearly it is all worth it now though. Just a guess, but i would say that maybe 100 man hours (although i could be low) were put in on this.

The entrance into the room. Humidity readers on the wall.

Putting in the inaugural bottle.

Here's a little before picture to jog your memory. In comparison, quite inferior.

i will post a few more pictures after next weekend of the wine bottle light (the wall it's on isn't painted yet).

Other posts about progress here and here.

This looks awesome! I've always wanted a wine cellar in my home. How much space did you take up?

forgot to mention... the cellar holds 800+ bottles. right now he has about 600+ in there. hoping he doesn't go on a spending spree this weekend. the room is relatively small (i can't remember the dimensions though) we really tried to maximize the space and i think we succeeded.

That is amazing. I like the display shelves for the ports, etc. And the little pouring and glass area, genius. Now you just need to get a little murphy bed so your dad can sleep down there.

How far back does his collection date?

seemed like from what i could tell the oldest he had was from 1987 (and he wondered if that one had gone bad). he doesn't keep any real old ones. he has been 'collecting' wine for as long as i can remember though.

Wow!!! Your Dad must think you're the greatest daughter ever (no competition always helps)! Do you have free access to all the wine you could ever drink now???
