New project on the horizon
"
I'm in the planning stages of my next home project. I'm going to renovate my lone bathroom. As you can see in my sketch above it's small, no more than 6'4" x 6'. Since the tub takes up almost a third of the room I'll only need to put down around 22 sq ft of flooring. Right now the bathroom sucks. Since I moved in Tina and I have removed the ugly sliding shower doors and put up a shower curtain, added some corner shelves and a cabinet over the toilet for storage, and we got some IKEA hardware for the towels and TP.
Here's what the bath has now:
Light olive green tub and surround
Bisque pedestal sink
White toilet (I already re-built and re-positioned)
Door that opens into the bath and stops when it hits the front of the toilet
Old vanity lights
Laminate floor tiles on top of partially rotting sub-floor
Here's the wish list:
White tub, possibly Jacuzzi/whirlpool
Tile surround in tub/shower and new faucet/shower head
White pedestal sink with new faucet
High efficiency toilet to save water
Pocket door for entrance to bathroom
New lights, mirror, towel hanger, etc
New sub floor, heated floor grid, tile floor
Solatube?
The layout will not change, so once I decide on a budget I can start picking items. The actual work will have to be done much faster than my past projects, again it's my lone bathroom.

Wow, looks/sounds like a great plan!
I am going to give my "MC-motherly" suggest:
to look at the tub size showers/ glasses in surround, even with heads on on two sides. Seems when I was doing research for an ARCHITECTURE class teaching this summer, I found that most people do not take baths. Check Koehler site for examples, but many companies make more affordable.
Wish we did that! Oh, just remembered that Mrs. Saites did that a few years ago to their one main bathroom and was amazing!
I agree with McMom. Get rid of the tub and put in a shower. Then you have the perfect excuse to install a back yard hot tub. Or Project number 3 as I like to call it.
And with the space you save you can put in a Bidet.
The shower that i am proposing stephen look into installing is the size of the entire tube area!!
It can even has a small seat area on one end!
Look into it!
Stephen,
I must say that since I moved in to a place with a jacuzzi tub, I have found baths to be quite enjoyable. Sure, it's kind of weird to take a bath as a nearly 200 lb man, but hey, I'll admit it, soaking in the tub ain't that bad.
Baseball, Packers, beer, slam dunk contest, pork chops.
So keep that in mind. You may need to reaffirm your manliness as I just did, but the jacuzzi sure can relax the muscles after a long day of yoga, er, chopping wood.
ah from all the talk-back i guess a tub is a still need by you young -uns!!
